The launch of the iPad was so far undoubtedly the biggest tech event for 2010. But perhaps you techies need something else to look forward to. Other events of value that will give you some hope for this year.
Have no fear there are some pretty cool gadgets to look forward to in the coming months.
Firstly, there is the BlackBerry Bold 9700 which has already been released in some parts of Asia. Now, what is so great about this phone?
Well, it is smaller, it's thinner and lighter compared to other BlackBerry models.
Additionally, the trackball is replaced with a more-efficient and less-lint-attracting optical trackpad.
Another update is the addition of a 624 MHz processor. This will accommodate better, faster and more prettyful applications guaranteed to keep you busy during those free periods.
This update to the BlackBerry franchise is expected to become widely available sometime in February.
Now, there is something that is guaranteed to make any music lover happy. The Sony A-series Walkman.
This is, in fact, on sale right now in Japan ... darn Japanese. Now, this device will be released sometime this year in the U.S. and other international shelves.
What I love about this is that it is so similar to the new iPod Nano, yet so different. It has the brilliant features of a camcorder, a TV outport and noise-canceling features.
However, the Sony A-series Walkman has more memory, and the skins are not only colors like the Nano, but rather this gift from the Japanese gods of awesomeness comes in beautiful designs such as flames, a wood-like appearance and so much more.
To top it off, the A-series is very thin, 7.2mm to be exact, making it easily concealable in your school pant's pocket.
Unfortunately, a release date for the A-series outside of Japan has been kept very secretive.
Okay now, we all use Microsoft Office for typing projects or changing the font of our copied-and-pasted "original" homework from Wikipedia.
I'm not sure about you, but I am not fond of the 2007 version of Office. It has lost its ease of access and simplicity that was so heralded in the 2003 edition.
However, I found a new sense of joy when I found out that a 2010 edition was on the horizon. It has updated its user interface of all applications: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, every single Office application has been revamped, and you can even try the pre-release version now.
The release date of the retail version has not been set, but it is expected this year.
Now, this next device is so brilliant, so breathtaking and so elegant ... that it's gonna cost you an arm, leg, kidney, liver, heart and any other organ you can bear to part with.
The technological gurus of V12 Designs have already released the concept design for this marvelous innovation.
The Italian company has devised 'Canova' which is a dual LCD laptop, which has a touch screen.
Rather than a physical keyboard, they have instead used two monitors hinged together.
You can use the virtual keyboard on either screen and it is the must have for graphic artistes, students and tech fanatics.
The release date is not set yet but there are hopes that it will finished this year.
So there you go, these gadgets are guaranteed to put a smile on your face, or at least give you something to look forward to this year.
