The majority of teens we spoke to are diehard Facebook users who don't know that much about Twitter. And really don't want to. They just do not see its value.
"I would never sign up for Twitter. People following you? No. Sounds like a stalker," 14-year-old Karisse Robinson, a third-former from North Gate College told The Student Press.
Alyssa, a 17 year old from St. Joseph Convent said, "Most of my friends use Facebook and we don't bother with Twitter. I hear everyone going on and on about Twitter and stuff and well it doesn't interest me on the whole!"
Another Facebook fan, 15-year-old Shastri Persad of Vishnu Boys Hindu College said, "I don't know that much about it [Twitter] but I'm on Facebook every day."
Sydney, a 17-year-old Bishops Anstey High lower-sixer said, "People's tweets aren't as distracting as the random, unnecessary yet very interesting pics and statuses that can be found on Facebook."
She also thinks that Twitter's 140 character posting format is limiting. She said, "It can be a bit constricting at times unlike Facebook where your status can be forever long, allowing you to fully express whatever it is that you would like to say."
Teens also seem to think Facebook's format is easier to use and is more engaging therefore you can end up spending more time on the site.
Some have even thought about deactivating their Facebook accounts.
"It crossed my mind to deactivate my fb account but every time I get close to doing it ... I just can't ... well I'm not leaving fb," said Alyssa.
