Here’s a new way to “go green” and other colours, too. As can be seen on the nails of many models on the catwalk this year, even on the hands of my very own “mini me,” my little sister, nail colour is making its way back on the circuit.

I can’t say that I’ve been a huge fan of multicoloured airbrushed nails, a bit overstated for me, so I’m really happy that this trend, simple but truly effective, is back, and it’s back with a boom.

This old but new trend is the next big statement maker for the “summer.” (We have a summer now, if you didn’t realize, peeps). But I particularly like it because I can use nail colour to be expressive, to represent my personality or the mood that I’m in. Yeah, yeah, I know, that might be a lot of colour-changing for me. (I’m moody.)

I like green in all its shades. Green seems to be one of the more popular colours, especially mint green and a contrasting, deeper blue-green.

Bright and metallic colours are not to be outdone; pink, yellow, orange, blue, purple, peach, even brown, gold and grey are included in the mix. Black is also making a comeback. Nude colours make the cut as well. Stark white polish is new on the scene but is becoming equally popular. Just check out models on Chanel runway earlier this year. Yeah, their nails were harsh-white like liquid paper. In the real world, I might consider using a softer white.

If you’re more on the adventurous side like “mini me,” you can slip in one different colour on each hand, or maybe stark white would be fitting for your bold nature. Hey, almost anything goes.

All is well if you opt for something more on the conservative side like me. Having my nails all in one colour suits me just fine. Coral is one of my favourite colours for nails.

Fashion error is really hard to make with this trend – well, unless you decide to have long, fake and bright nails (not the best trio) – that’s just freaky. I keep my nails short when I’m putting the bright stuff on them. (Gotta draw the line somewhere, right?) So girls, how about splash of colour for this summer?
