A typical scenario:   Guy walks into a popular chicken outlet, looks at the menu, makes up his mind, and addresses the disinterested cashier.  Guess what happens next.

So, I just saw The Social Network for the first time this past weekend (I know, I know, I’m LATE) and it hit me how recent a development Facebook really is.

I’ve wanted to be a writer ever since I picked out my first matching Lisa Frank notepad and pencil set. I’ve always read everything I could get my hands on, down to the cereal box during breakfast.  So when I finally got the chance to try it for real, I was excited.  And then I was terrified.

Picture this: A sweet looking guy … nice smile … in blindingly white Old Schools, a nicely-fitting pair of Levis (not too tight, not too slack), a crisp white tee, and maybe a pristine fitted cap (Yankees, of course).

I can't stay silent any longer. Something very disturbing is happening on the streets of T&T. Everywhere. And no one says anything about it. Well, enough is enough. Loose cannon coming through!

Sitting here in the middle of the night, I am facing one of the toughest decisions of my young life. This is life-altering. A mere choice will now determine whether I am happy or unhappy, in control or out of it, informed or uninformed, excited or bored to death.

It's coming. That dreaded day is right around the corner and just thinking about it is makes you squeamish. No amount of hoping is going to make it disappear, though. The — your — first day of school is right around the corner and with it, another three months of textbooks, traffic-jam and a too-short lunch-break.

When I first began working, so many things were new to me. The responsibility, the level of respect, the nods of approval. But the newest of all these things, like I've said time and time again, was the cruelty behind the whole business.

Everyday is a battle. Everyday is a reminder of either our failures or our accomplishments. And everyday we either make the choice to stand up for ourselves, or let others trample over our carcass.
